When it comes to summertime, nothing speaks the warm weather like a barbecue. There is nothing like the smell and sound of a barbecue to create summer memories. Hamburgers, steaks and hot dogs are staples, but what are some other unusual things you can grill to bring out that delectable flavor? Try some of these tasty treats on the grill for a different taste.
Fruit Skewers
You are probably familiar with shish kabab with its savory flavor combinations of peppers, onions and different kinds of meats, but try something a little sweeter, by using fruit. Some great fruits to try are pineapples, strawberries, mangos, limes, watermelon or peaches. To give mix the right flavors add some chili powder, a little lime, some cumin or some Greek yogurt. Cook each side for a minute or two to get that great barbecue flavor.
Edamame
Edamame are young soybeans, usually still in their pods. They are soft and malleable because they aren’t the soybeans that make milk and other soy-based products. They are great for grilling. Just add a little bit of salt, wrap them in foil, poke some holes and grill them until slightly charred to give it a great savory flavor.
Potato Salad
Add a little zest to your potato salad by grilling the potatoes. Coat the potatoes with some olive oil, a little salt and pepper and place on the grill for 4 minutes on each side. Then add the dressing of your choice to make it your own and serve to friends and family.
Meatball Marinara Dippers
Add some fun to your meatballs. To add a little smoky flavor to your meatballs make them big enough so they don’t fall through the grates of the grill. Cook on the grill and add some marinara sauce.
Peach Crisp
Don’t forget your dessert! A healthy treat after all those different kinds of grilled meals is a peach crisp. Envelop them in some tin foil and add some zest and lemon juice. Make some crisp topping and grill until crispy. For a creamy taste, add a little vanilla ice cream.
Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower Skewers
Looking to add a little flavor to your Cauliflower? Try to add some buffalo wing sauce flavor to it for some exciting new flavor. Put on metal skewer on in some tin foil, pop on the grill for a few minutes and include some dipping sauces to add a tasty side dish, or hors d’oeuvres while your guests are waiting for the main course.
Trying some of these different types of foods can add some flavor to your barbecue and make your friends and family want to come back time and time again.
